FILM REVIEW: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054953/
Entertainment and fun are
important in life also. A refreshed mind can be more productive but the only
thing is to live a balanced life. It is also a fact that some people need little
fun in life while some others want to have fun all the time - Alarm bells!!
In 1980, our father took
the whole family to a cinema in Lahore for the movie “The Guns of Navarone”
which he had himself watched before. Though I have seen this movie afterwards also
in the early 1990s on television but I decided to go for it again recently and
bought a DVD.
This movie is not being
recommended because it is a war-movie or because you think I want to create a
war-frenzy :) The reason is that it is a good action/adventure movie with
sequences close to life compared to the trends today. The movie about World War
II is based on the novel of the same name by Scottish Writer, Alistair MacLean.
Whether Americans were really the heroes in that great war, is a separate
topic!
About late actor Gregory
Peck – they used to say he was as dignified as the roles he played on screen,
particularly in “To Kill A Mocking Bird” and “Roman Holiday”. Still, we need not copy the lifestyles of Hollywood heroes and heroines forgetting our own heritage!
The bygone era of Hollywood
used to convey a good value-system when decent language and moral values were
still upheld compared to today. Today, being ‘funky’ has become a fad amongst youth
due to the current Western media trends. Porn industry has further corrupted
the world though thankfully Pakistan Telecom is continuously blocking such sites.
We just need to guard our faith by carrying a greater concern for afterlife!
Mr. Raja Mujtaba, the
founder of Think-Tank ‘OPINION-MAKER’ - http://www.opinion-maker.org/
who passed away recently verified my concern in a meeting in early 2013 that with
time Hollywood has been slowly taken over by the Zionists, with the agenda of
indoctrinating human minds with subtle messages that serve their own purpose.
Once in a while there is no
harm in watching a clean ‘old’ Hollywood movie rather than Bollywood movies or
Indian Plays. It cannot be denied though that good movies are still being made today
but we just need to be careful as we are living in End Times. Good Pakistani
and Iranian movies without unnatural song sequences could be recommended too
like the Pakistani movie “Khaak Aur Khoon”. My knowledge and perception ends
here!
Lastly, the best forms of
entertainment are activities like visits to nature spots with your family,
friends, relatives or groups. Today, we try to draw solace from computer/TV
screens and cell-phones. Prolonged exposure to technological devices can affect
our quality of life and health according to experts. But it is bad that we have
not created sufficient nature spots, recreation parks etc. Also, many times our
fixation with these technological devices hinders us from actively pursuing healthy
forms of recreation not to mention ‘runs’ to Masjid for regular prayers!
HAVE
A GOOD TIME!
