PAKISTANI FILMS - WAAR, Yalghaar & Azaadi
I have seen Pakistani movies ‘Khuda Kay Liay’ and
‘WAAR’ in cinema when they were released. A third such movie was released last year (2017) on
Eid-ul-Fitr named ‘Yalghaar’ but then I decided it was too much. My close
family members planned to watch this movie and wanted me to come along but I
declined because all these movies are glamorized to attract audience but
lacking any noble spirit.
This year also, a movie on Kashmir issue is set to release on
coming Eid named as ‘Azaadi’. The trailer of the movie has been shown many
times on TV channels. Again, to attract audience the movie-makers have spiced
up everything. The lead male actor looks fine as a ‘Mujahid’ but a beautiful
heroine in skirt, dance numbers and then a ‘buzurg’ with ‘tasbeeh’ in hand in a
scene together with the girl? All this has little relevance with our Pakistani
conservative culture, especially when the issue of Kashmir is being addressed.
Seems like the ‘buzurg’ has been installed to attract the faithful also and not
just regular cinema-goers when in fact it is just another commercial project.
It is very upsetting that all these movies are destroying the
moral fabric of the nation and misleading educated Pakistani Muslims since they
watch more movies than they listen to proper Islamic scholars. ‘Independence’
(Azaadi) of Kashmir cannot be achieved by making or watching such movies but
the producers obviously are least concerned about liberating the Kashmiris than
making money on hot issues!

your thoughts.
