(Urdu) - General Zia, an exemplary diplomat
جنرل ضیاء بے مثل سفارت کار ۔۔۔۔۔ !
جنرل ضیاء کو پاکستان کی تاریخ کا بہترین سفارت کار کہا جائے تو غلط نہ ہوگا۔ اسکی سفارتی صلاحیتوں کے حوالے سے چند دلچسپ واقعات پیش خدمت ہیں!
" جنرل ضیاء امریکہ کے دورے پر تھے جہاں انہوں نے پورے ملت اسلامیہ کے نمائندے کے طور پر اقوام متحدہ سے خطاب کرنا تھا ۔ امریکہ میں دو ماہ بعد الیکشن ہونے والے تھے ۔ جنرل ضیاءالحق اور امریکی صدر جمی کارٹر کی ملاقات ہوئی جس میں جمی کارٹر نے شکائتاً کہا کہ ۔۔۔
" جناب صدر آپ نے ہماری 400 ملین ڈالر کی امداد سرسری انداز میں اور فی الفور مسترد کردی " ۔۔ جواباً جنرل ضیاء نے کہا کہ " جناب صدر ان معاملات پر بات اب 4 نومبر کے بعد ہی مناسب ہوگی "۔۔۔
آغا شاہی کے بقول صدر ضیاء کا یہ جملہ سن کر ہمارے پاؤں تلے زمین نکل گئی ۔ اور جمی کارٹر کے چہرے پر خجالت نظر آنے لگی ۔ پاکستان کا غیر منتخب صدر ریاست ہائے متحدہ امریکہ کے منتخب صدر سے کہہ رہا تھا کہ " تم الیکشن جیت کر آؤ پھر بات کرنا۔ " ۔۔
جنرل کے اس جملے پر سفارتی حلقوں میں زبردست تبصرے ہوئے اور لوگوں نے کہا کہ " جنرل امریکہ کے مقابلے میں کسی احساس کمتری کا شکار نہیں۔۔۔"

82ء میں جنرل ضیاء ایک کانفرنس میں شرکت کرنے انڈیا پہنچے ۔ اس کانفرس میں دنیا کے 80 ممالک کے سربراہان شریک تھے ۔ صدارت اندرا گاندھی کر رہی تھیں ۔ جنرل ضیاء نے اندرا گاندھی کی ناراضگی کی پرواہ کیے بغیر اپنی تقریر میں کہا کہ " مسئلہ کشمیر کو اقوام متحدہ کی قراردادوں اور شملہ معاہدے کے مطابق حل کرنا چاہئے ۔" ۔۔ جنرل کی یہ بات سن کر اندرا گاندھی اپنی صدارت کی نشست سے اٹھ کر چلی گئیں اور اپنی جگہ یاسر عرفات کو بیٹھا دیا۔
دوسرے دن پورے انڈین پریس کی 8 کالمی سرخی تھی کہ " صدر ضیاء نے کانفرنس میں مسئلہ کشمیر اٹھا دیا " ۔۔ کچھ نے لکھا کہ " دھماکہ کر دیا " کسی نے لکھا " بہت زیادتی کی " ۔۔ تین دن تک انڈین اخبارات ضیاء کے خلاف اور کشمیر کے حوالے سے سرخیوں اور اداریوں سے بھرے رہے ۔
تیسرے روز کانفرنس کے تشہیر کے شعبہ کے انچارج ایڈیشنل سیکٹری خارجہ مانی شنکر آئر نے بھارتی اخبارات کے اڈیٹروں کو بلایا اور کہا کہ " پلیز آپ لوگ جنرل ضیاء کا تذکرہ کرنا بند کر دیں ۔ آپ سارے جنرل صاحب کی مرضی کے مطابق ردعمل دے رہے ہیں جو وہ چاہتے ہیں اور دنیا کے 80 ممالک کے سربراہان کے سامنے مسئلہ کشمیر اور پاکستانی موقف کی تشہیر ہو رہی ہے ۔ آپکی اس تشہیر کے نتیجے میں انڈیا اور کانفرنس کی سربراہ اندرا گاندھی کہیں پیچھے رہ گئیں ہیں۔"

80ء میں زمباوے کے جشن آزادی کے موقع جنرل ضیاء اور انڈین وزیراعظم اندرا گاندھی سمیت دنیا کے کئی ممالک کے سربراہ جشن میں شرکت کرنے زمباوے پہنچے ۔
اندراگاندھی اور جنرل ضیاء ایک ہی ہوٹل میں ٹہرائے گئے ۔ اندرگاندھی 13ویں فلور پر تھیں جبکہ جنرل ضیاء 11ویں فلور پر تھے ۔ جنرل ضیاء نے فوری طور پر اندرا گاندھی کو فون کر دیا اور باہمی تعلقات معمول پرلانے کے لیے بات چیت کی خواہش ظاہر کی ۔ اندرا گاندھی کے لیے انکار ممکن نہیں تھا ورنہ کئی ممالک کے سربراہوں کی موجودگی میں انڈیا پر الزام لگتا کہ وہ کشیدگی برقرار رکھنا چاہتا ہے ۔
اندراگاندھی اپنے فلور پر ملاقات کا انتظام کرنے لگیں تو جنرل ضیاء نے دوبارہ فون کیا اور کہا کہ " مادام آپ نیچے آنا پسند کرینگی یا میں آؤں ؟ " ۔۔
تب اندراگاندھی نے بادل نخواستہ نیچے آنے کی حامی بھری اور کہا کہ " اپ صدر ہیں اور پروٹوکول کےلحاظ سے آپکا کا درجہ بڑا ہے اسلئے میں نیچے آجاتی ہوں " ۔۔
بظاہر اس چھوٹی سی سفارتی مات پر ایک انڈین صحافی نے لکھا کہ ۔۔ " مجیب ، یحیی خان اور بھٹو کو اپنی انگلیوں پر نچانے والی اندرا گاندھی کا پالا ضیاء جیسے زیرک ، چالاک اور شاطر شخص سے پڑا ہے ۔ ضیاء کی مثال شارک کا شکار کرنے والے شکاری کی سی ہے ۔ جو شارک کی تمام تر طاقت اور مستی کے باوجود نہایت تحمل اور برباری سے بالاآخر اسکا شکار کر لیتا ہے ۔"۔۔

LOVE AND AFFECTION
Big shame on those who are always blaming late General Zia for honouring and supporting Nawaz Sharif, and making late General Zia responsible for launching the career of a corrupt leader. General Zia also honoured and supported many other individuals during his era but the wolves of Satan are always quick to highlight certain elements in order to defame a warrior of Islam who endeavored to strengthen the institutions of Islam (though he was not perfect and made some mistakes as well since nobody's perfect - Neither you, nor I).

Shopping for nephew and niece
SHOPPING FOR NEPHEW & NIECE
When I reached Variety Books, the shutters were down even though time was just 4 pm. The guard said that the store was closed down due to death in a family. It was a bad stroke of luck as the guests were leaving next day. I had no choice but to go to an other book store Iqbal Book Corner but it did not have the kind of books I was looking for. My niece is an aspiring painter and I wanted to give her a book of landscapes and natural scenery.
The Islamic book center was near the Arts section and I couldn't resist going there. A nice book on Data Sahib caught my eye there (with accounts by various writers over centuries on Data Sahib) and I bought it along with 15 pocket-sized books on Supplications by Rasool Allah (s.a.w.w.) "Piyaaray Rusool s.a.w.w. key piyari duain) costing 20 Rs. per copy. I already have this book with me since many years but wanted to buy more to present it to others.
So this was the shopping I did that day when in fact I went out to look for some art books. However, after returning, I did give a copy of duain each to my brother, sister-in-law, nephew and niece.

The Last Encounter - Prophet Jesus (pbuh) Vs. Dajjal

Have you seen Hollywood Movies like "The Terminator", "The Matrix" and "The Lord of the Rings" (based on a epic high-fantasy novel written in stages between 1937 and 1949) etc.? They all carried a special theme.
A certain level of strength and character was required to terminate the evil. A good guy with earthly qualities pitched against an evil force with powerful and sinister strength. In the end, the good forces triumph over the evil forces but with great difficulties and trials. We never know if the themes of these movies are taken from ancient scriptures including even Hadith literature. Especially, some of the sequences in the movie "The Lord of the rings" are in great contrast with the End times Islamic prophecies including "The Eye" (One-eye of Dajjal), "The Return of the King" (The return or descent of Prophet Jesus pbuh to kill Dajjal and then to rule the world for 40 years) and the struggle in general.
If you read the Urdu text below, you will understand that the greatest of showdowns has to happen in real life in this world. Don't delude yourself and prepare well. Preparation should not be the way as shown in movies but according to our roots and heritage as a Muslim with a strong concern for afterlife. A word of caution that our desperate pursuits of liberalism and progressiveness might be depriving us of true faith in these times of free electronic-media, Internet and social media.
We have to learn positive things from the advanced nations but be on guard against that which is contrary to our faith as well. Thus, we have to select the "conservative mode" and apply it to our lives as much as we can while striving to hold firmly onto True Islam in all spheres even if we can never be perfect!
Abundance leads to complacency in most cases. Generally, a Muslim blessed with worldly comforts might have little desire to turn towards Almighty Allah in the true sense. It is because the possessions and luxurious lifestyle would make him/her lazy in terms of devotion to God. He/she would be rather pursuing mainstream lifestyles, interests and hobbies that would make him/her socially acceptable without drawing a line where needed.
That is why our beautiful religion Islam teaches us to lead a simple lifestyle even if we are blessed in worldly sense. A true Muslim in these times would have to sacrifice a few or many things to gain pleasure of Allah. There is a price for everything in this world so how could one assume to achieve true faith without paying any price?
Wherever we live or wherever we study or work, we need to keep our hearts alive with the message of Almighty Allah. Only then we can hope for salvation in the hereafter (there are exceptions when big sinners could be forgiven by God on Judgement Day - but that is only for Him to decide and we cannot take chances with afterlife which will last forever and forever)!!
