کسی لعنتی بدبخت نے حسد میں آکر نہر کنارے سو سے زائد پودے، ایک شخص کی راتوں کی نیند اور دن کا پسینہ — سب کچھ چند لمحوں میں اکھاڑ پھینکا گیا۔ اس بدبخت کو آخر کتنا فائدہ ہوا ہوگا؟
نہر کے کنارے، جہاں کبھی صرف خشک مٹی اور ویرانی کا راج تھا، وہاں غلام رسول پاکستانی نامی ایک عام سے شخص نے خواب دیکھا — ایک ایسا خواب جو اپنے لیے نہیں، آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے تھا۔ اس نے اپنا وقت، اپنی محنت اور اپنی جیب سے پیسے لگا کر سو سے زائد پودے لگائے۔ نہ کسی نے اسے کہا، نہ کسی نے مجبور کیا۔ یہ خالص محبت تھی، مٹی سے، ماحول سے، اور اس قوم کے مستقبل سے۔ ہر صبح وہ ان پودوں کو پانی دیتا، ہر شام انہیں دیکھ کر دل ہی دل میں سکون محسوس کرتا۔ یہ صرف پودے نہیں تھے، یہ اس کی امیدیں تھیں جو زمین میں جڑ پکڑ رہی تھیں۔
مگر قسمت یا شاید کچھ بے حس ہاتھوں نے اس خواب کو چکنا چور کر دیا۔ کسی نامعلوم اور غیر ذمہ دار شخص نے، جسے نہ ماحول کی فکر تھی نہ کسی کی محنت کا احساس، رات کی تاریکی میں یا دن کی روشنی میں — یہ ابھی تک واضح نہیں — ان سو سے زائد پودوں کو جڑ سے اکھاڑ کر پھینک دیا۔ یہ عمل صرف پودوں کی تباہی نہیں، یہ ایک انسان کے جذبے، وقت اور امید کا قتل تھا۔ افسوس اس بات کا ہے کہ ابھی تک یہ واضح نہیں ہو سکا کہ یہ حرکت جان بوجھ کر کی گئی یا کسی غفلت کا نتیجہ تھی — اور جب تک تحقیقات مکمل نہ ہوں، کسی مخصوص فرد یا گروہ پر الزام لگانا مناسب نہیں۔
شجر دوست ٹیم سہارا نے اس واقعے پر گہرے دکھ کا اظہار کیا اور غلام رسول پاکستانی صاحب سے دلی ہمدردی کا اظہار کیا۔ ان کی دعا ہے کہ اللہ تعالیٰ اس نیک انسان کی محنت کو قبول فرمائے اور اسے دوبارہ ہمت دے کہ وہ پہلے سے بھی بڑھ کر شجرکاری کرے۔ کیونکہ حقیقت یہ ہے کہ چند بدنیت افراد کبھی بھی اچھے لوگوں کے حوصلے پست نہیں کر سکتے۔ جو لوگ زمین میں سبزہ بوتے ہیں، وہ دراصل قوم کے مستقبل میں سرمایہ کاری کرتے ہیں۔
یہاں سوال صرف ایک شخص کے نقصان کا نہیں، بلکہ پورے معاشرے کی ذمہ داری کا ہے۔ متعلقہ اداروں اور مقامی انتظامیہ کو چاہیے کہ عوامی مقامات پر لگائے گئے پودوں کی حفاظت کے لیے سیکیورٹی کیمرے، نگرانی کا نظام اور واضح قوانین بنائیں۔ جو لوگ ثابت شدہ طور پر ایسی حرکتوں میں ملوث پائے جائیں، ان کے خلاف قانون کے مطابق سخت کارروائی ہونی چاہیے، تاکہ مستقبل میں کوئی بھی شخص ماحول دشمنی کی جرأت نہ کرے۔ لیکن یہ بھی ضروری ہے کہ کارروائی صرف ثبوت اور تحقیق کی بنیاد پر ہو، نہ کہ الزام تراشی یا افواہوں پر۔
یہ واقعہ ہم سب کے لیے ایک سبق ہے۔ اگر ہم نے کسی کو درخت کاٹتے، اکھاڑتے یا نقصان پہنچاتے دیکھا اور خاموش رہے، تو ہم بھی اس جرم میں برابر کے شریک ہیں۔ درخت لگانے والے ہمارے محسن ہیں، اور محسنوں کی حوصلہ افزائی کرنا ہماری اجتماعی ذمہ داری ہے، نہ کہ ان کی حوصلہ شکنی۔ آئیے عہد کریں کہ ہم خاموش تماشائی نہیں بنیں گے، بلکہ ماحول کے محافظ بنیں گے — کیونکہ ایک درخت کی حفاظت دراصل ایک نسل کی حفاظت ہے۔

PAKISTAN WASTES 35 MILLION ACRE-FEET OF RAINWATER ANNUALLY
Pakistan loses nearly 35 million acre-feet of rainwater annually due to floods and a lack of storage infrastructure. This wasted water is equal to the total capacity of the country's biggest dams.
Despite increasing rainfall, most of the water mixes with sewage instead of being stored for future use. Experts stress the need for recharge wells and storage ponds in cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to conserve water.
With rising urban demand, integrating rainwater collection systems in new housing projects could help reduce reliance on groundwater and ease the water crisis.

Untimely rains, thunder and hailstorms in Pakistan since 3 months - June 06, 2023
Rain and thunderstorm/hailstorm in Lahore (Pakistan) today again - very unlike June (disastrous weather conditions persisting since last 3 months in Pakistan - March, April and May). In April 2023, the wheat crops were ready to be harvested but rains and storms destroyed much of the plantation. Disastrous weather conditions persisted throughout March, April and May. Again when mango plantations were ready and needed the May heat, rains and hailstorms occurred suddenly at the end of May 2023.

The temperature of our globe is increasing with every passing day. Nevertheless, nothing significant is being done in this regard. Only false and fallacious pledges are being made. If we want to see our planet habitable, we ought to take some immediate and stringent measures. First of all, the use of fossil fuels must be minimized, if not completely avoided. Second, other renewable sources of energy must be sought and explored. Third, deforestation must be stopped and afforestation must be promoted. Last, eco-friendly initiatives must be brought forth to keep things under control so that they do not spiral out of control.

PINDI AT RISK FROM DEVASTATING FLOODS - APRIL 07, 2023
The garrison city is at risk of experiencing devastating floods due to heavy monsoon rains this year and a lack of funds for the silt cleaning of 10 major rain drains, including Nullah Leh.
It is said that with the current allocated funds, only 50 per cent of the Nullah Leh could be cleaned, doubling the danger of flooding.

INDIA'S WEAPONISATION OF INDUS WATER TREATY - March 05, 2023
India had given 3-months notice to Pakistan on January 25, 2023 on modifying the Indus Water Treaty which was signed between India and Pakistan in 1960. The BJP, RSS and Research and Analysis Wing could be planning water diversions and cyber hacking of Pakistan’s power grids to further destabilise the country. Therefore, Pakistan must fully prepare for multi-pronged hybrid warfare, both physical and virtual.
