RAMADAN MUBARAK...

ilm - Past and Present

Media Viewing Habits & TV in Ramadan

MEDIA VIEWING HABITS AND QUALITY OF TV PROGRAMS DURING RAMADAN

During Ramadan, TV remains off but Facebook remains ON. The days when there was only PTV before the 1990s, they showed good informative programs, religious programs and light clean entertainment. For example there used to be a program about how Iftar is being observed in different cities of the Muslim world every day.
Now we have trashy programs on TV with Amir Liaquat and others. And the Islamic channels are also not very good. Hence it is better to turn the TV set off during Ramadan. Please check a relevant Urdu post next:

R.I.P. Muhammad Ali

MUHAMMAD ALI, NO MORE

Muhammad Ali boxer, the legend, dies at age 74 (1942-2016). One of our childhood chapters closed. Sad news. He was one of the most recognized sports figures of the past 100 years and crowned "Sportsman of the Century" by Sports Illustrated.

May he rest in peace, inna lillahe wa inna illaihi rajaeoon - A tribute to Ali below:

"I don't smoke but I keep a match box in my pocket. When my heart slips towards a sin, I burn a match stick and heat my palm. Then I say to myself: "Ali you can't bear even this heat, how would you bear the unbearable heat of Hell?"

After Malcolm X, another Muslim legend, Muhammad Ali, returns to Allah. The greatest boxer, but an even greater man who spoke truth to power and sacrificed his best years in the ring because he wasn't prepared to join the US's wars to kill innocent people.

We need more Muslims to have his spirit - fearless in the face of injustice, deeply caring about the oppressed and driven to be the best - Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajaeoon.

Palestine mourns Muhammad Ali.

"I declare my support for the Palestinian struggle..." - Muhammad Ali.

May Allah have mercy on our beloved brother and grant him into the Highest of Jannah - Aameen.

Life with an aim

LIFE WITH AN AIM

If one is educated, has resources (capital or any skills etc.) and some time to spare, then leading an aimless life should not be an option in these times when the world is surrounded by chaos. It is fine to take some time out for personal enjoyment even then but not to waste it totally. Every little act counts in real life - your attitude and care towards your close ones and the under-privileged people in your neighbourhood who need your help. Follow the right people in the world for guidance and remember nobody's perfect. The Holy Qur'an and the teachings of the Prophet (pbuh) can help you immensely.

Imran Khan Vs. Nawaz Sharif - Who is good for Pakistan?

IMRAN KHAN VS. NAWAZ SHARIF - WHO IS GOOD FOR PAKISTAN? - NEITHER OF THEM MY FRIEND

I just wanted to share a very brief concern. I was supporter of Imran Khan and his party but then I changed my mind in 2011. It is not because of Imran Khan's personal life. We do know he was a playboy but maybe one who changed himself over years. Still, old habits don't go away especially if one is living single. He married a glamour girl again (Reham Khan) when he could have married so many better respectable women in Pakistan. But please note that Nawaz Sharif is not better either. He is a businessman and has been using his tenure as Prime Minister to expand his business and to earn huge profits. He has little character as a Pakistani compared to Imran Khan who is at least sincere to Pakistan and is not corrupt like Nawaz Sharif. Imran's weaknesses are his personal weaknesses but Nawaz Sharif has been causing huge damage to the country's resources. And he has also got investments in India for his sugar mills etc,

Personally, I don't support the system of democracy at all. We want a simple model which we can call our own, Shariah under Khilafah with a President commanding everything. There should be no election, rather the leaders should be appointed through selection without voting by the general public. An autonomous body comprising of senior patriots who are intellectuals should select the leaders. But first the traitors in media, government and other sectors of Pakistan should be caught and removed from their positions.

Ramadan and Iftar -
