My Father - A Different Hero

MY FATHER (MA SHA ALLAH) - A DIFFERENT HERO

[SPECIAL NOTE: This post I am writing not because I am talking about ‘my father’ but because of the extent of contribution in spite of having a handicap and hence a story of courage for others.]

Today, October 1, 2013 is my father's birthday (Syed Ahsan Ahmad) - The man who has always been a perfectionist Ma Sha ALLAH and who was born deaf but today he is Design Director in a firm that manufactures Rubber Defence Equipment for the Armed Forces of Pakistan. He has been working since the age of 13 and associated with defence designing in the same firm since more than 45 years now other than his overall work experience of 66 years.

Over the years he has designed Critical Rubber Defence Equipment like 20' X 15' inflatable Rubber Balloons (Helium Gas Filled) erected around Kahuta Nuclear Plant and then Life-Jackets, Ammunition Jackets, Waders (dress for hunters), Dummy Decoy Tanks, Anti-Mine Shoes, Rubber Mattresses, Army Tents and many other challenging assignments. And he has no formal degree, only God-given talent. Apart from functioning as a designer, he also supervises the manufacturing of products from start to finish. He works 6 days a week and we have never seen him take a day off just because ‘he is not in the mood’ but only very rarely in case of serious illness.

He is one of the unsung heroes of Pakistan and a very down to earth person as well. May he and the other humble beings in Pakistan continue to contribute to the glory of Pakistan and may we be able to value their many many years of service. – Aameen!

  1. One, he is educated because he understand life and his responsibilities. Two, he is not deaf because he listened to the most important voice, which is your that talks to you from inside.

A great man indeed; a living symbol of what the Quaid wanted Pakistanis to be.
