"Silent Prey" - Poem by Roman Ahsan

“THE SILENT PREY

[A simple innocent love-poem by Roman Ahsan written in 5 minutes - Jan 2010]

He sits there quietly,
With eyes focused on the screen,
His lips are sealed,
His fingers tapping away!

She enters the room,
A pretty little thing,
He grabs her every attention,
For he is a gentleman!

She thinks, “I must talk to him!
He looks a nice man,
I am beautiful,
And he cannot ignore me!”

Thus she paces ahead,
Offers him a chocolate,
He says, “No ma’am, thank you!”
She turns away disappointed!

It’s a new morning,
And he wears a fine tie,
He feels confident,
And his fingers move fast today!

She enters the room again,
Her hair done in a nice braid,
She wears a red dress,
All boys look up at her!

He keeps on working,
Experience has made him rich,
The girl does not exist,
She is too young!

The girl stops and stares,
She thinks, “Why is he so quiet?
Why does he not notice me?
Am I not good?”

From the corner of his left eye,
He notices her sharp presence,
He fails to ignore her this time,
And his face turns towards her…
