SAME ROLES FOR MEN AND WOMEN?

Does nature intend for men and women to carry same roles in life? Oh, but then why is there any difference in their physical forms, can we ignore all that? The fact is that women are not any inferior to men but there are areas where the roles of men and women are not interchangeable. Women should get good education and aspire to be independent as a bread-earner but not at the cost of their primary role as a homemaker. We need to save the world from the collapse of family-structure.

Deeds, "Karma" and Islam:

'Karma' is a Hindu philosophy. It means "as you sow, so shall you reap" or in other words "What goes around, comes around."

Many modern educated Muslims (or so-called) go around talking about 'Karma' as if it is one of the truths of life. It is ironic that they like to cling to such concepts because of their use in today's world instead of really bothering to pay attention to their 'own roots' as Muslims.

Islam proposes something different than 'Karma'. It advocates that it is not necessary that our good deeds (including worship acts towards God and noble acts towards people around us) should be rewarded in this life. Similarly it is not necessary that bad deeds should bring us bad times in this life.

The finality of reward and punishment is for the life hereafter or the afterlife. A person leading a luxurious life in this world hence 'may not be' enjoying favour of Almighty Allah while a person going through bad times 'may not be' experiencing God's disapproval. Therefore, if a man has met a car accident for example, then our focus should be on providing immediate medical care to him rather than saying something like "Oh look, he is being punished by Allah for his sins."

MAKAFAT-E-AMAL is also interpreted by most Muslims like Karma. It is actually a loose philosophy playing in the hands of Muslims of today. MAKAFAT-E-AMAL is applicable for two situations:

1- Mistreatment of one's parents,
2- Cruelty OR Zulm

BUT IT IS NOT FOR OTHER SITUATIONS AND ALLAH KNOWS BEST

It is only for God (ALLAH Almighty) to decide what act should be rewarded and what punished in this life as well as in the hereafter. Hence we should focus more on acts which will bring us salvation in the hereafter and not run after temporary passions and gains in this temporary life. It is fine to concentrate on improving the quality of life in this world but only within the limits set by God thus avoiding extravagance and those acts which are displeasing to Him.

As mentioned in Holy Qur'an: - (Translation: Abdullah Yusuf Ali)

"But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness He (Allah) will give their (due) rewards and more out of His bounty: but those who are disdainful and arrogant He will punish with a grievous penalty; nor will they find besides Allah any to protect or help them." - (Surah An-Nisa, Verse: 173)

VISIT TO DATA DARBAR - THURSDAY, APRIL 21, 2016

Yesterday, a sinner like me decided to go to the shrine of Hadhat Syed Ali Hajveri (ra) as it was Thursday. I went to darbar first time in 2012. A buzurg guided me that we should not go there with the intention of asking something from the saint who is resting there but we can go there, pray directly to ALLAH, read Surah-e-Yasin and afterwards pray to ALLAH for the higher ranks of the saint and also any general dua about ourselves or anything we want to seek from ALLAH.

I got late yesterday, so reached there just before Maghrib Salah. I was on motor-bike as it is easier to commute there and had performed ablution (wuzzoo) before leaving home. Once I reached there, I joined in time for Maghrib Salah. The floors there are always clean and shining. After Maghrib Salah, I went near the shrine and picked a copy of Surah-e-Yasin. There were many other people already reciting the same Surah near the "netted section" (jaali). Many others were sitting and standing around doing Zikr. I stood near the "jaali" and recited the Surah. Afterwards offered supplication to ALLAH for the higher ranks of Hadhrat Syed Ali Hajveri (ra) and other duas for myself, country and Muslim world.

Then I sat down and recited durood for some time. When I came back, I was pleasantly surprised to know that it was Rajab 13 last evening when I went there. Rajab 13 is the date of birth of Hadhrat Ali (ra). Yesterday it was also 21st April, the death anniversary of Allama Iqbal (ra).

Going to shrines is fine but one should not become obsessed with it. Our main focus should remain on fulfillling the obligatory acts in Islam (including regular Salah in masjid) and caring for people around us. There should not be any compromise on that. However, it is always a peaceful experience to visit the shrine of Hadhrat Syed Ali Hajveri (ra).
