DIFFICULTIES IN LIFE AND OUR WAY OF HANDLING THEM
We have to still 'try' to strive fully in His way and then we should remember ALLAH tests His close ones more than others. Prophets (peace be upon them all) were the closest to ALLAH but they faced the biggest difficulties in the world compared to all other human beings, many of them were even martyred (those from Bani Israel or Children of Israel after the time of Prophet Musa pbuh) by non-believers.
Some Muslims are always recommending 'wazeefa's to remove difficulties. So yes, we definitely should recite verses but instead of 'wazeefa', we have to strive to adopt Islam as a complete code of life apart from rising above the popular worldly trends which are opposed to Islam and which are only distracting us from the message of ALLAH (swt) and His Prophet (pbuh) even if our worldly situation seemingly remains status quo.
ALLAH may not grant worldly goods to His true believers in abundance but ultimately they are blessed with peace in heart in this world which is the greatest treasure one can find. And the best rewards wait for them in afterlife with entrance to paradise.
May ALLAH guide us towards the right path - Aameen.
