Assalam-o-Alaikum,
While we proceed to fight
the day to day battle in our respective lives, there are a few things we might
be ignoring. And one of these is to prepare for the challenges ahead as per the
End time Islamic theories of appearance of Imam Mahdi (ra), Dajjal
(Anti-Christ) and return of Nabi Isa (as).
Have you ever pondered why
some people don’t believe in these concepts? Let me share that my elder brother
who is just one and a half years elder to me does not believe either. Though he is a fine person but it is a fact that many Muslims who progress in this world and who are caught
up in the daily regime of life do not bother to invest time in learning from
scholars or reading books on Ahadith or on the End time topics in Islam.
Is ironic that some of us
do not attach importance to sayings of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), and find
refuge in the argument that Ahadith were compiled 200 years after his demise. Dr.
Israr’s brother, Dr. Absar, who is in-charge of English section in Qur’an
Academy (having served in Punjab University as Professor of Philosophy) addressed
this issue. He said that in the early period of Islam after the Prophet’s
(pbuh) demise, the level of faith (emaan) in the hearts of Muslims was very
high and they were very devoted to memorizing Qur’an and Ahadith having
photographic memories.
In those days there was no
radio or television or Internet or other technological inventions which consume
much of our time today and hence distract our attention from gaining Islamic
knowledge. The positives of these inventions cannot be denied but it is a
reality that today most of us are more engrossed in time-wasting activities in this era of technology than making good use of them.
However, we can still learn
to exercise control over ourselves. For example there are young Muslim females
today who do not even keep their portraits as Facebook profile pics (sharing whole
picture albums is one step further away) and are using the platform for
spreading the message of Allah. Indeed, they have comprehended the truth of afterlife/Judgment
Day and what God has said in Qur’an. Sadly, many of us today, both males and
females, are not able to resist the attractions set up by Satan. For many
people, their work and career are closely connected with the Internet. It is
still time for us to exercise control and get closer to the message of Allah.
Coming to the topic of End
times, today there are Muslims who pray five times a day but they still don’t
believe in End time theories because they have not learned that Islam is to be
applied as a complete code of life and in all spheres. An example: a Muslim
says all his prayers (Salah) and fasts in Ramadan also, but goes out to watch a
movie in cinema to pass time while he is fasting.
It should be remembered
that we need to recite Surah Al-Kahf with proper Qur’anic pronunciation
(Tajweed) for it to act as a shield. Given below is a web link of recitation of
same Surah by Sheikh Saud Ash Shuraim who is Imam-e-Harm Makki. This was recommended
by an Imam of mosque in Lahore. If we listen to this recitation with Arabic
text in front of us in another window (link given below also) repeatedly, then
we can accomplish one step. Second step would be to seek help from a good Qari
and then to perfect Tajweed of this Surah by reciting this Suran in front of
him so he/she can point out our flaws. Listening to Qur’anic recitation is itself a
source of peace!

JazakALLAH khairan kaseera for letting us know that the battles that we fight on day to day basis require alot of spiritual effort as well to stand successful, especially when the future awaits the biggest fitna of Dajjal for which a real subsequent effort is required.
