Madressa and Terrorism in Pakistan

MADRESSA AND TERRORISM IN PAKISTAN:

According to official statement by Mr. Chaudhry Nisar (Interior Minister, Pakistan), more than 90% of Madressas in Pakistan are not involved in any form of terrorism. He announced this after the investigations that followed the attacks by terrorists who martyred 132 schoolboys of Army Public School, Peshawar in December 2014. "More than 90%" is still a rough figure and the real figure could be much higher.

If some Madressas are harbouring terrorists (either consciously or unaware) then action is certainly demanded against them. However, after the official statement by the Interior Minister of Pakistan, no one should get carried away on the debate involving Madressas. The main thing is people who are "always speaking" against Madressas in Pakistan in forums need to get a life as this basically shows their hate for Islam.

It is agreed that the Madressa system in Pakistan needs improvements but so do all the other departments and sectors in Pakistan. And if we want to suggest improvements then we need to have clean hearts towards Islam first. The Madressas will never allow changes if they are suggested by haters of Islam. They are perhaps apprehensive of the international conspiracies against Islam like wanting us to remove Qur'anic verses on Jihad and historic Islamic stories of gallantry against oppression from the curriculum.

It is to be noted also that many educational institutions in Pakistan, labelled "progressive" by the so-called enlightened individuals in our country are observing annual pagan festivities like Halloween and Valentine's Day apart from others. Most of the 60-70 Pakistani TV channels are showing content day and night which is not only unacceptable by the basic teachings of Islam, but rather promoting promiscuity and obscenity in the society. Extent of violence on media also goes unchecked by media. We are heading towards moral decadence but we are not bothered by this deterioration, rather our eyes are focused on declaring ALL Madressas as arms of terrorism, God forbid.

It is also alarming that the Indian programs and shows are being shown on Pakistani TV channels also apart from 24-hour transmissions of Indian TV channels. Many Indian TV plays these days are promoting Hindu religiosity and presenting ancient Hindu mythical figures engaged in battles. However, when Muslims talk about 'Jihad' (which is honest struggle against Nafs, with pen and also physical battles against oppressive forces) then suddenly they are labelled as extremists. This hypocrisy goes unnoticed also by everyone.

Let's be honest with ourselves and with Almighty ALLAH (swt). It is again reiterated that Madressas do need changes but so do we. It is very natural that those running Madressas in Pakistan will not allow changes in their curriculum if we carry bias towards the overall situation in Pakistan.
