Where Is Our Identity?
The West definitely has its merits in perfection and
quality. It took off when the Muslim world was left behind due to many factors.
We should definitely learn the 'positives' from its arts, culture and ethics
where they are really present. However, why do we have to become obsessed with
their lifestyles, and why do we want to look and dress like their celebrities?
By doing so we have acted as trendsetters for our youth and have created a
market for imports from abroad thus causing unnecessary financial burden.
Shouldn't we strike a balance between everything? [P.S. - I am a victim of the
same system but trying to wake up and want to learn from others. To achieve
self-sufficiency and true independence, we need to refuse certain ideas and
products in order to recreate our lost supremacy.]
