Plastic bottles, Cancer & Hoax Emails

Plastic bottles, Cancer & Hoax Emails

There has been a general concern since long about reusing plastic mineral bottles for home use. In 2004, during my stay in marketing research firm, I came across a detailed email warning about the potential threat of reusing plastic bottles even leading to cancer in some cases. When shared with the Director who had keen interest in healthcare measures, we both concluded then that the content of email was authentic. She also highlighted that proper plastic bottles which are made for the purpose of storing water in fridge or otherwise should be used and not mineral water bottles which are only for one-time use.

Secondly, we use a plastic top while heating food in microwave. There has been warning against this also in some healthcare articles.

Just recently, I decided to recheck this information on internet and the search yielded a link from CANCER RESEARCH, UK refuting the above claims. It is also mentioned that such claims have been attributed sometimes to Johns Hopkins University, USA which has denied releasing any such information.

Share what you think on this topic if you have more authentic info. Here is the link of page (updated in March 2015) from CANCER RESEARCH, UK: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/causes-of-cancer/cancer-controversies/plastic-bottles-and-cling-film
