Islamabad Attacks (March 03) & Pak Taliban - A brief analysis (by S Roman Ahsan) - MUST READ IF YOU LIVE IN PAKISTAN
The
attacks at Islamabad district court on Monday, March 03 are very tragic
and make us think about the security conditions in our country. On
Sunday morning (March 02), the newspapers had talked about a month-long
ceasefire by Pakistani Taliban and the very next day the attacks took
place. Pak Taliban denied that they had a hand in these attacks. Some
people / groups who are against peace talks immediately started
posting a cartoon on Facebook about Pak Taliban which said: "Dar asal
aik mah tuk qatal-e-aam key zimma dari qabool na karnay ka faisla kya
hai - qatal-e-aam bund karnay ka nahi".
There was a statement by Ex-General Hameed Gul in Sunday newspaper: "Taliban ka ailaan-jang-bundi dushmanon key na-kami aur Pakistan key kamyabi hai". This is based on the strong assumption that our enemies want Pakistan to be involved in an endless civil war, where our soldiers, tribesmen (who are not part of terrorist groups) and our Pakistani civilians have to pay the price with their lives apart from continuous chaos in the country.
A news story (http://bit.ly/1hWfJYc) in THE EXPRESS TRIBUNE relates that a group has claimed acceptance for conducting the attacks in Islamabad and same group has also said that it has no links with Pakistan Taliban (TTP). The group has said that it is against peace talks as they are un-Islamic and that they want implementation of Shariah in Pakistan which was not discussed in the talks. It is worth noting, that the attackers in Islamabad incident have been described between the ages of 20 and 25.
It is difficult to know what will happen next. But it would be an alarming fact if a third party is trying to sabotage peace and peace-talks in Pakistan by conducting terrorist attacks (apart from TTP of course as they are obviously responsible for much of terrorism). We have forgotten the case of Raymond Davis (check attached image also) who killed two of our ISI agents in 2011 and was still handed over to US under pressure. There is a strong speculation in the country that there are still many such US agents in Pakistan and involved in terrorist activities (bomb blasts) apart from using pressure tactics on youth to conduct suicide attacks. Countless visiting visas for Pakistan have been issued to Americans without checking their details over the past years, especially during PPP's tenure before PML (N) came to power. The notorious American organization Blackwater has its presence in Pakistan, is being said since 2009 at least. Please check this online news item from 2010 also in this connection: http://bit.ly/1mWaezv
To further understand why some segments in Pakistan have been supporting peace-talks, given below are two links (these are from early February and late January respectively):
