ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) - ALARM BELLS - March 2024
A well-known futurist, Ray Kurzweil, appeared on Joe Rogan's podcast and made a prediction about artificial intelligence (AI) reaching human-level intelligence by 2029, which he deemed as a "conservative estimate."
He suggested that by then, AI would be on par with human intelligence, though he acknowledged that some people anticipate this milestone as early as next year or the following year.
Responding to Kurzweil's projection, billionaire and tech mogul Elon Musk voiced his disagreement, asserting a much shorter timeline for AI surpassing human intelligence. Musk contended that AI might outsmart any single human as early as the following year and could potentially surpass the collective intelligence of all humans by 2029.
Musk's outspoken concerns about the risks associated with AI have led him to advocate for increased regulation of the technology, fearing the potential for "civilizational destruction" if it's not properly managed.
