VIDEO - A-Z of famous people with Bipolar Disorder
- 9 Minutes
This video has names (along
with their pictures) of famous people or celebrities (past and present) who are
or have been sufferers of Bipolar disorder which is a form of mental or
psychological illness. It needs to be pointed out that mental or psychological
illness is hugely misunderstood in the world.
Mental or psychological
illness does not mean that a person is mentally deficient however that person
still goes through catastrophic phases which can be minimized or completely
eliminated in later life with self-awareness, medical and psychological help
etc. Hence such a person has the potential to lead a productive life but it
depends on a lot of factors including luck, family support and timely medical
solution.
MORE COMMENTS ON THE VIDEO
The video on famous people
with Bipolar disorder that was aired on WhatsApp two days back has information
sourced from Wikipedia which is not 100% authentic though it does tell us the
truth about many famous people. For example Winston Churchill (Prime Minister
UK), Ralph Waldo Emerson (Writer and Poet), Sidney Sheldon (Producer, Writer)
did not have Bipolar Disorder but they had chronic depression which is just one
part of Bipolar Disorder. Some others in this video like Isaac Newton also did
not have this ailment most probably.
As we know that “Bi” in
Bipolar means “double” or “two”. Patients of Bipolar disorder are basically
characterized by overlapping phases of chronic depression and mania. The
severity and the pattern vary from one patient to another.
However, many others in this
video did or do have Bipolar disorder like Earnest Hemingway (Nobel Prize winner
for Literature who wrote novels like ‘For whom the bell tolls’ and ‘A farewell
to Arms’, apart from others, both of which were made into Hollywood films),
Stephen Fry (actor), Jaun Claude Van Damme (actor in action movies), Lord Byron
(Poet) etc. etc. etc.
