Hijab - A popular product?

Hijab - A popular product?

Is Hijab or Abaya, a popular product amongst women in Pakistan? Is the educated segment in the country adopting it more as a fashion statement or out of religious obligation? What is the foremost concern against this kind of wear in the women's mind? Is Hijab only for Muslim women and Muslim men are free to carry themselves whatever way they feel like? Do they not have to fulfill certain criteria to be called Muslim? Indeed Muslim men also have certain moral obligations which they need to research. The consumer demand for Hijab and Abaya have increased manifold in Pakistan, not because of fashion needs but spiritual uplifting and religious obligation. Religion is the main motivator for females to wear Hijab and Abaya as per Qur'anic verse: “O Prophet! Tell thy wives and daughters and the believing women that they should cast their outer garments over their persons (when abroad): that is most convenient that they should be known (as such) and not molested: and Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.” – (Surah 33: Ayat 59)
