MIRACLES BESTOWED UPON PROPHET DAUD / DAVID (PBUH)
Two weeks back, we discussed in relation to ‘Pond of Kausar’ that
the Prophets (peace be upon them all) of Allah lived like ordinary men except
few like Prophet Daud (pbuh) and Prophet Sulaiman (pbuh) who were Kings (apart
from some others). Prophet Daud (pbuh) was the father of Prophet Sulaiman
(pbuh) and here also we should know some facts about these Prophets.
Prophet Daud (pbuh) is also known as Prophet David (pbuh) of
Bible as in ‘David and Goliath’ which we are more familiar with. In Holy
Qur’an, Surah Al-Baqarah, Goliath is mentioned as ‘Jaaloot’ whom Prophet Daud
(pbuh) fought and killed under the leadership of King ‘Talut’ even though ‘Jaaloot’
was mighty powerful. Afterwards, Allah made Prophet Daud (pbuh) a King and he
was granted certain miracles.
The context of this post is the simple way of living of the
Believers. Therefore, even while Prophet Daud (pbuh) was a King, he used to
make his living preparing armours for soldiers instead of indulging in luxuries
from his treasures. One of the miracles he had was that iron used to melt in
his hands and this is how he used to easily construct armours.
His second miracle was that he understood the ‘tasbeeh’ of
the mountains.
Prophet Daud’s (pbuh) third miracle was that he had a
melodious voice which he used to sing hymns in praise of Allah. No Sir, he did
not use musical instruments as wrongly debated in anti-Islam movies like ‘Khuda
Kay Liay’. He was not gifted with ‘Music’ but a ‘melodious voice’.
Luxuries are thus never worthwhile though there is difference
between a luxury and a necessity. If one keeps a car and a laptop for genuine
need then that does not take one away from the remembrance of Allah!
May this Ramadan be a turning point in our lives – Aameen.
