IDEAS FOR RECURRING CHARITY
(AS-SADAKAT AL-JARIYAH)
DESCRIPTION: There are thousands of doors for earning ‘Recurring Good Deeds’. Upon death, angels will close your account. Yet, there are lots of ways through which good deeds will be kept on written in your account, even after your death. So invest in recurring charity before your death that will remain a source of continuing good deeds for you. They ‘could’ lead you to Heaven or prevent you from hell, apart from being advantageous for others! (However, the thing to remember is that we should not forget the set of obligations Our Creator demands from us!)
As quoted by Abu-Hurairah (ra), Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) stated: “After one’s death, there are only three things which keep on benefitting a person:
i)- Sadaqa-e-Jariya:
This means something which is related to some noble or worthy investment that can benefit others. For example a hospital, a rest-house, the establishment of a suitable school, college or university, building of a mosque, a fruit tree or a tree with shadow etc.
ii)- The knowledge that benefits people:
Education based on Holy Qur’an is the foremost knowledge in this category. Beneficial Scientific knowledge is also significant here, not to forget any scientific invention which continues to benefit people generation after generation. With regards to knowledge, spreading & conveying Islamic knowledge are also best.
iii)- Righteous Children:
The reward for the good acts of righteous children also reaches their parents when they have passed out whether they have intended it or not.
