Mufti Taqi Usmani belongs to the family of Molana Shabbir Ahmad usmani (a close friend of Qauid e Azam). His father Mufti Shafi usmani was the lecturer of Hadith in dar ul uloom deoband India. In 1947, many ulmas were against the patrician of India like Molana Hussain Ahmad Madni but Mufti Shafi usmani father of Molana Taqi usmani joined the Azadi Movement and migrated to Pakistan. When TTP attacked APS school and killed more than 100 innocent students,at that time Molana taqi usmani and his brother did a press conference and said these are not Taliban , rather they are zaalimaan. Molana taqi Usmani served as a judge on the Federal Shariat Court of Pakistan from 1981 to 1982 .
